There’s nothing more impressive than a woman who doesn’t let her gender limit her from doing something most men can’t even do, in this case an incredible number of back-of-hand push-ups.
In fact, the only reason fitness icon Eva Clarke now has a fondness for back-of-hand push-ups is because she suffers from Kienbock’s disease, a hereditary condition that causes weakening of the bones in the wrist; meaning she had to train herself to do the exercise some other way.
Clarke, the UAE’s fittest woman, recently broke two world records for back-of-hand push-ups, with a seemingly effortless 250-rep consecutive (uninterrupted) set before totaling at a mind-boggling 383 in 15 minutes in front of crowds at the GEMS American Academy in Abu Dhabi, where her daughters attend.
Shockingly, the world record for 15 minutes was American Alicia Weber’s 112, while no one has ever attempted the former.
Part of this may have been for personal bragging rights, but mostly the attempt was in aid of raising funds to upgrade the school’s sports equipment, which her ‘stunt’ was able to do.
The 33-year-old, who recently picked up an interest in ultra marathon running apart in the past courting success in bodybuilding events, said: “The school didn’t raise enough for the bleachers we wanted but a generous South African who knew what I was doing has generously donated all the bleachers the school needs, and now they have everything!”
Next up, the Aussie will attempt the 85-mile (136.8km) Ridgeway Challenge in the UK, right after which completing she plans to do three push-ups for each soldier lost in the current war.
